Quaid Hamare Album Announced

12 April 2008

We are pleased to announce the forthcoming CD release of Quaid Hamare which has been published by the Jinnah Archive. The album, which contains four tracks dedicated to the founding fathers of Pakistan, has been produced solely to raise funds for the Archive.

Fazal Karim Fazl, the Jinnah Archive Secretary and a poet of repute penned the lyrics, and the renowned Pakistani singer Sohail Akhlaque has composed and performed the songs. Quaid Hamare, the title track, is in an upbeat anthem style and the rest have are in naghmaat style of composition. Speaking recently on DM Digital TV in the UK during a special programme marking Pakistan Resolution Day (aired 23rd March 2008), Mr. Akhlaque explained the purpose of the album, and remarked that composing the melodies had come easily to him, as he was so inspired by the message of the lyrics.

The four tracks are as follows (click on titles to hear samples):

Quaid Hamare dedicated to Quaid-i-Azam M.A. Jinnah ..... [LYRICS]

Tu Jaree dedicated to Dr. Allama M. Iqbal ..... [LYRICS]

Sir Syed Tujhe Salaam dedicated to Sir Syed Ahmad Khan ..... [LYRICS]

Rehe Aman A track inspired by peace ..... [LYRICS]

The tracks were part-recorded in Pakistan and in the UK. Mr. M. Arshad (Lahore) and Mr. Mehmood Nicky (UK) were responsible for music arrangement and recording respectively. We at the Jinnah Archive thank them and Mr Sohail Akhlaque for all their excellent work and we also wish to convey a special thanks to Mr. Zahid Akhlaque, without whom the album may not have been completed.

The CD will be available for sale by the end of April.
